Peter Borchelt

borchelt  Dr. Peter L. Borchelt is certified as an Applied Animal Behaviorist by the Animal Behavior Society and received his  doctorate in    comparative psychology/animal behavior from Michigan State University. He held a post-doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Animal Behavior at The American Museum of Natural History, taught as Assistant Professor in the  Department of Psychology at Fordham University and is Attending Staff Behaviorist at the Animal Medical Center in  New York City. Since 1980, he has helped owners prevent and solve behavior problems in dogs, cats and other animals  in his private practice, Animal Behavior Consultant. Dr. Borchelt consults and testifies frequently on dog bite and  other legal cases, conducts numerous research and development projects for various pet related companies and has  published over 85 articles and chapters in a variety of animal behavior and veterinary journals. Dr. Borchelt has been  seen and heard on many major television & radio network stations discussing various topics of pet behavior. He has  been written up on numerous occasions in major newspapers and magazines and in 2002 Dr. Borchelt was described  as THE BEST ANIMAL BEHAVIORIST IN THE CITY by New York Magazine. He has co-edited six books on topics in applied animal behavior and animal law. Dr. Borchelt has also invented and patented the Snoot Loop which is an  internationally used halter for dogs.
