Susan Kapla

Sue Sheep and BCsSue has been training dogs and dog owners with an emphasis on humane and effective techniques since 1989 and has been offering individualized training consultations to owners with dog behavior problems for over ten years.  Sue earned her B.S. and M.S. at Northern Michigan University, conducting her master's research on the effect of environmental stimuli (including petting) on heart rate in dogs; she received her Ph.D. from West Virginia University in 2005 where her research focused on developing a method for the functional assessment of problem behavior in companion dogs. She currently owns and operates Canine Consultants serving clients with private consultations and group training classes and is an assistant professor in the Psychology Department at Northern Michigan University. (Oh, and she also keeps a flock of unruly sheep!)
